Dr. Alfonso Cappa-Melendez psychologist

Dr. Alfonso Cappa-Meléndez has been working in the field of mental health for over 15 years. He was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is a graduate of the School of Medicine of Ponce, Clinical Psychology Program, approved by the American Psychological Association. He moved to Colorado at age 30 after falling in love not only with the beauty of the state, but also with the kindness of his people.
Dr. Cappa has worked in multiple environments with a wide variety of populations and psychological problems. His theoretical framework is biopsychosocial. His approach to the patient considers the interaction of biological, thoughts, and social processes. The impact of the services he provides is aimed to be effective and efficient.
Dr. Cappa firmly believes in the power of compassion and trust in treatment: "The therapeutic alliance is the most important component to success in therapy. It is always important for me to understand the uniqueness of the patient. You must earn trust. Only then does the real change begin. "
Dr. Cappa is also a comic book enthusiast, movie lover, Broncos fan and a natural born geek. He doesn’t believe in the concept of “normal” and he rather use the term “healthy or unhealthy.” He states, “Normal people don’t accomplish much.”

Colleen Phipps Cochran psychologist candidate

Colleen Phipps-Cochran is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado. She attended graduate school in Colorado and earned her Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of The Rockies. Colleen has more than 14 years of experience in the counseling and mental health field. She approaches her relationship with her clients with compassion and authenticity. She practices with various theoretical orientations to find the best fit for her clients, as her approach is collaborative. She is currently at the end of her doctorate program in clinical psychology, psychologist intern. She is a psychometric clinician under the supervision of Dr. Cappa.

Jackie Horton counselor

Jackie Horton, LPC Candidate, is a dedicated mental health professional committed to helping individuals of all ages achieve their full potential. With a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Adams State University, Jackie brings a wealth of experience to her practice, having worked in the educational system and adapting her approach to meet the unique needs of each developmental stage.

Jackie has training in anxiety, grief, career counseling, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and is equipped to address a wide range of challenges. Her compassionate and collaborative approach fosters a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to develop effective coping strategies.

When not counseling, Jackie enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, paddleboarding, and engaging in creative pursuits. Her passion for nature and personal growth is reflected in her approach to therapy.

Jackie Horton, LPCC

Melishe Spangenberg counselor

Melishé is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. She has a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the North-West University, South Africa, and University of Phoenix, conjointly. Melishé has experience providing mental health services to a variety of individuals, with a specific focus on grief, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders.
Melishé believes in a collaborative approach in helping clients reach their goals through the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a person-centered therapeutic approach. Melishé helps her clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behavior and the role it plays in their mental health. Melishé also enjoys providing career counselling and helping individuals find an occupation/career that aligns with their personality and interests.
When not working, Melishé enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, fly fishing and indulging in a captivating mystery or crime book.

Arlyn is an office manager with Pueblo Pioneer Psychology LLC She has 5 years of
experience in the billing and medical administration currently working at Pueblo Pioneer Psychology LLC. On her primary drive she states, “My passion for office management comes from my love for personal interaction and organizational excellence.”
